When planning a kitchen renovation, it matters to think through how you actually use the space, so the layout works in practice. Focus on having enough worktop and storage. Choose materials and appliances that are both durable and energy-efficient. And do not overlook lighting, for both atmosphere and function.
In a kitchen renovation, proper ventilation is not optional, it is what keeps the air fresh. Make sure electrics and plumbing are installed correctly and to current standards. Choose materials that clean easily and hold up to daily wear. And finally, do not forget ergonomics, place appliances and worktops so the kitchen works with you, not against you.
Scandinavian kitchen design is moving toward clean lines and a minimalist expression, built on natural materials like wood and stone. Light palettes in white, beige and grey are often paired with black or brass details for contrast. Sustainability is a strong current too, with energy-efficient appliances and considered material choices. Open shelving and smart storage are gaining ground, both for function and for the airy feel they bring.
Unikum Bygg has built hundreds of kitchens, and the work always follows the same order. At the home visit we go through how you use the kitchen and what you want to change. When needed, a designer prepares drawings and goes through materials, appliances and details. You then receive a cost proposal, and once it is approved we agree on a start date and a timeline. The work is carried out within the agreed timeline and at the agreed price, and closes with a final inspection.
Scope matters most: replacing fronts, carcasses and the worktop is a different project from stripping everything out and starting again. Beyond that, it depends on whether electrics, plumbing and ventilation need to be rerouted, and on the materials and appliances you choose. Unikum Bygg provides a clear cost proposal before work begins, and the work is then carried out at the agreed price.
It depends on whether the carcasses are kept or the kitchen is rebuilt from the ground up, whether installations move, and on delivery times for cabinetry, worktops and appliances. You receive a timeline from Unikum Bygg once the quote is approved, and we work within it.
Yes, on the labour cost. The ROT deduction is 30 percent of the work, up to SEK 50,000 per person per year under the 2026 rules. Cabinetry, worktops, appliances and other materials do not qualify, but fitting and installation do. As a private individual you can use the ROT deduction when Unikum Bygg renovates your kitchen, and it is applied directly on the invoice.
It depends on the work. Replacing fronts, the worktop and appliances in the same positions rarely needs permission. If you move the sink, water or drainage, or alter a load-bearing wall, a co-op apartment requires the board's permission under the Swedish Housing Cooperatives Act. Check the association's own rules as well, and bring them to the home visit so Unikum Bygg can plan around them.
Choose Request a quote here on the site and tell us briefly about your project, ideally with a floor plan or a few photos, or call 073-985 01 42 or email info@unikumbygg.se. Unikum Bygg usually replies the same day. The next step is a home visit, after which you receive a clear cost proposal.
